Baby penguin born without feathers and abandoned by family nursed back to health

A baby penguin who was born without feathers and left to die by its parents has blossomed into a furry little guy that's been reintroduced to his family.

"Its parents kicked it out from time to time, or even left it on the icy ground to let it die," a keeper at the LHT Pole Aquarium in China, where the chick was born, said to NBC.

Veterinarians at the aquarium decided to feed the chick themselves after the parents continued to kick the newborn out of the nest.

Doctors determined that the penguin was feather-less because of difficulty digesting food and absorbing nutrients, NBC reported

After a month of round-the-clock feedings from aquarium staff, the baby penguin grew feathers and is in good health.

Now that it has grown feathers the penguin is back in the flock and living with its family.
